The JOHN WAKEFIELD MEMORIAL AWARD for MOST INSPIRATIONAL ECO-LODGE of the year 2012

Our green effort to our forest and the National Park Jungles adjoining, has won us the prestigious “ John Wakefield Memorial Award for the Most Inspirational Eco Lodge in India 2012” from the Travel Operators For Tigers.
The winners of the TOFT Tourism Awards are truly outstanding in their fields and fully deserve this recognition for their work.  They act as a beacon to the Global Tourist Industry; encourage best practice operations and sustainability in tourism enterprises.  They increase public awareness of the value of responsible tourism as an agent of conservation and habitat renewal.

TigerTrails Jungle Lodges, a bush camp created by Amrut and Aditya Dhanwatay is the very finest example of how well directed tourism can actually help rewild barren lands, and are an example to us all. They have raised the bar in how we can combine saving nature with allowing people to see it, enjoy it and care for it.  Seventeen years ago they took over highly degraded land and now they run a popular lodge, amongst lush jungle.  Trail Cameras introduced a decade ago monitor their forests for wildlife activities and can be seen online.

This award is given on the basis of sustainable tourism practiced by an accommodation provider, in terms of local tribal villagers support, adjoining National Park wildlife conservation support, restoration of habitat, in and around the lodge, water conservation, nature and wildlife protection, and enabling the guests to have a very small eco-footprint.  Its effect has been the transformation of the park area too, with decreasing in poaching, restoration of streams and trees, bountiful wildlife has returned creating new and stable livelihoods for bordering communities.
