Wildlife viewing Experiences
Situated in some of the most remote and beautiful corners of Tiger Reserve, and operating for over two decades, this is perhaps one of its best kept secrets. In this part of the park, with far fewer crowds and vehicles, wildlife lovers and nature enthusiasts can largely enjoy their own private Tadoba.
The Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve are the only protected forest in India where Tiger numbers have seen such immense growth from 88 tigers in 2018 to 115 tigers, 151 leopards in 2020, this is not by co-incidence. This western boundary of the Tadoba is well known for its high prey density and with with a carnivore density of 5.23 Tiger and 6.86 Leopards per 100 sq.km. Not only are the opportunities for seeing big carnivore in Tadoba excellent, but you will more often than not find yourself alone on a sighting aided by our well experienced guides, working with photographers and select optimal positions at sightings taking lighting and animal behavior into account.

Appealing to the serious wildlife buffs, TigerTrails offers a range of wildlife viewing opportunities, from walking safaris, pontoon safaris, jeep safaris and our very rewarding photographic hides. Tadoba is one of the few parks that are open all year round, offering visitors an opportunity to visit in the monsoon season – this extraordinary active time for all manner of plants and animals, yet otherwise closed to keen nature lovers in most other parks of India.

30 tiger sightings from 16 jeep safaris, sightings of the very difficult-to-see Chowsingha (or Four-horned Antelope), two Leopard, six Sloth Bear and three Asiatic Wild Dog encounters of particular note.
The lodge we stayed at is also very good. It is located right next to the core zone of the park and their CCTV cameras picked up nocturnal visits by Sloth Bear, Leopard, Jungle Cat and (on our last morning) Caracal during our stay. I should mention that you can use your own trail cams here, probably the best place in India to do so!

We were lucky to have Lahu Raut for many of our core zone safaris. Lahu has spent almost 30 years working at Tadoba and knows the tigers and their usual behaviour intimately. He is an expert at answering the ‘should I stay or should I go?’ question and can often predict where and when the tiger will show up next, often on its usual rounds.

Tadoba is simply awesome for sloth bears as well as tigers at the moment, we had six sighting in over a week. Even the Agarzari and Devada zones are very productive. Thought by many to be the best in all of India’s parks. Big thanks to all of our excellent hosts at Tadoba’s Tiger Trails Jungle Lodge

A Tiger in the grounds!
This is the place to see tigers! In five drives we had 10 tiger sightings (9 individuals, we saw one twice) 2 sloth bears, 2 leopards, 2 jungle cats etc and then went hunting wild dogs at the other end of the park and yes we saw 4 on a kill! This last illustrates the dedication of the naturalists as we put in 150km in a morning trying to find the dogs.
We heard a tiger in the grounds one night and saw pugmarks within 30 feet of the Tents.

They eat and breathe Tigers and conservation here. Awesome location; great service; fantastic park .........Tiger Trails was an awesome experience for me - their dedication to the game viewing side of things was what left me with wanting to return ............ Excellent home cooked meals, friendly service and game drives really arranged to perfection.
Coming from South India, where the game drives and the arrangements are mostly very Mickey Mouse ........ this was a refreshing experience.
They have a couple of waterholes on the property and they review the field cameras every morning to see the activity that takes place there

Very conservation focused lodge at the Khuntwada Gate. Lights out at 10pm.
The lodge grounds are adjacent to the Park and animals supposedly drop into the waterhole regularly, we did see a lot of animals in the park includ 15 diff tigers, several bears, gaur, etc... The naturalist/driver are very good and delivered the goods. The upside is Khutwanda gate is smack in the center of the core and you can go up north to Katejhari or Tadoba Lake, or South o the Moharli range.
I would go back at some point...the wildlife viewing is too good to be missed

Just after our arrival we saw our first wild dogs at the water holes at Tiger Trails.
Tiger Trails is an excellent base from which to start, the team there seem to know the tigers quite intimately.
We had 6 game drives in Tadoba and several really good tiger sightings!

This was our second visit to Tiger Trails. The location and the wilderness of the lodge makes this special. The lodge is virtually in the core area and all sorts of wildlife cross through the grounds on a regular basis, The week before we got there visitors saw two tigers on the grounds. They had made a kill. They were still there and we heard them often.
The Khutwanda gate is a 5 minute drive away and is virtually for the private use of Tiger Trails - so no long queues and first in to the park each day. The area around the camp is contiguous to the core zone and is part of the park in all but legal boundaries. Lots of opportunity to do other interesting things - walks, canoeing and sitting out on the machan.
There are great water bodies on this large property and a machan - I will definitely be going
